Enjoying Valentine’s Day on a budget
During the most romantic time of year, it’s only natural to want to shower your loved one with the treats they deserve. Unfortunately, for many people your bank account isn’t always as full as your heart and you need to make sure your declarations of love are within your price range. We’ve got some tips to help you have an amazing Valentine’s Day on a budget.
Messages in a jar
This big romantic gesture will set you back less than a fiver and is a gift that keeps on giving. All you need is a jam jar, a pen and a few packs of of coloured post-its. Think of all of the reasons you love your better half and write them on your post-its, then fold them and pop them in the jar. Your partner will love the thoughtfulness and the time you’ve put in. They can even keep them to open when they need a boost, leaving them with a long-term memory of the special day.
Netflix and chill
Most people are subscribed to a streaming service and if you’re not, be cheeky and ask a friend to borrow their password for the evening!
Popcorn and other treats will set you back just a few pounds, or splash out on a takeaway or meal deal for two if you have a little more to spare.
Valentine’s Day on a budget has never looked better when you’re binge-watching your favourite show or cringing at a cheesy rom-com.
It’s probably safe to say that February doesn’t have picnic weather in store, so you’ll have to get a little bit creative. Put a blanket down in your living room and have your own romantic picnic. Chocolate, strawberries and Champagne (or sparkling wine to keep the budget down) are all good bets for a romantic picnic!
You can get all of the essentials for less than a tenner and could even put a nature show on the TV to get the feel of the great outdoors!
Share your memories
Compile all of your favourite photos and make them into a slideshow to send to your Valentine. If you have cash and time to spare, you could print off the photos and arrange them into a scrapbook or picture frame.
Put it on hold
If you’re spending Valentine’s Day on a budget, hold on for a day. February 15th is the best day to buy unsold Valentine’s chocolates and flowers at a great discount. Your significant other won’t mind, as they’ll probably love the idea of saving money too!
